Everyday Heroes - Spring 2019
Finding comfort in knitted teddy bears
For the past four years, Bethanie Dalyellup resident Olwynne Major has knitted 782 soft bears and donated them to the Peel Hospital. The bears have provided much needed comfort to trauma patients and those living with dementia. Olwynne’s social contribution story was so positively received on the Bethanie Facebook page that she gave us permission to share her soft bear pattern.
After four fulfilling years, Olwynne is putting down her knitting needles. If you would like to volunteer your time to knit soft bears for the Peel Hospital, please contact Lynne, Friend of the Hospital on 0449 046 684.
FUNdraising at Geneff
Bethanie Geneff loves to give back and have fun at the same time. Residents and staff wore their favourite PJ's on National Pyjama Day to support The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care. Earlier in the year they held a Biggest Morning Tea for the Cancer Council Western Australia and enjoyed a presentation from guest speaker Tina Dobrin, a social worker from Metro Palliative Care Consultancy Services.
